“Digital Signage” the entry point for Digital Transformation

We have shoppers walking around in our stores, and we are excited to fill them up with our latest products, offers and membership discounts we are so sure they  would love.
At this point we start wondering what is the best communication channel to interact with in-store customers. We are looking for a cost efficient, powerful, and clear communication channel for our messages.

Traditionally, shops advertisers have used printed banners or boards, on counter displays, light boxes and information signs. Luckily nowadays we can use Digital screens to provide a more engaging communication with our customers.

What is “Digital Signage”

Digital Signage replaces the printed medium for a Digital Screen. It can be a huge LED Wall, a TV Screen, or just a small tablet on a counter.
With “Digital Signage” our content become alive with product video presentations, we can add realtime information of our offers and promotions.
Over all we get clear and more impactful message.

What is “Digital Signage” for

It mainly is a communication tool for reaching in-store or passing by customers. But it also gives a modern look to our stores. In many stores we can see screens and LED used as decorative elements besides its functional intention.
We can use Digital signage for:

  • Company Communication
  • Promos
  • Product enhancement
  • Modern look
  • Theme decoration
  • Seasonal
  • Site information

Advantages

There are obvious advantages of having installed a Digital Screen in our business.
For me personally, first and foremost advantage is that, it is a non intrusive channel. Unless you have a very good, and polite, sales agent, I would avoid even being approached by a shop staff. But they give us many other advantages:

  • No Printing cost / time
  • Lower distribution cost / distribution time
  • Advanced and more engaging content
  • Possibility for A/B testing of advertising campaigns
  • Changing information on demand

What do I need to implement my “Digital Signage”
Some systems can be huge and complex, including:

  • Online updates
  • Interactive content
  • Realtime information
  • Advanced systems with content creation
  • Scheduling
  • Feed connection to social media
  • and so on

But you also can set up a very simple “Digital Signage” in your business.

A basic system is composed of:

  • A TV Screen
  • A Player

And of course, being very creative with your content. After all the message and how we present it is the very important thing we want to reach to our clients. There are many different ways to present the information:

  • Still images with text information
  • Maps and charts
  • Video content
  • Motion graphics
  • List and directions

Hope you enjoyed the reading.

I may do a post about other “Digital Systems” which include HTML or Web APPS, and this leads us to interactive installations.

Best,

Kent
